A premium experience should be clear about trust. Here is how the native apps sign in, protect credentials and connect to your media.
Use your server’s sign-in.
Plex authorization happens on Plex’s own page. Jellyfin sign-in goes to the server address you enter, with password sign-in or Quick Connect when enabled. No separate Vupl account is required.
Protected sign-in on your device.
Apple stores saved sessions in Keychain. Android protects its credential file with Android Keystore. Windows protects saved credentials with Windows data protection. Artwork and metadata use ordinary app-private caches.
Secure server connections.
Plex discovery prefers HTTPS endpoints. For Jellyfin, use the reachable server address supplied by its owner; HTTPS is preferred, and a plain HTTP connection requires explicit trust in supported clients. The server controls access.

Available in the latest supported platform updates. A Jellyfin login is independent of your Plex account.

Use its complete address, including any base path. Remote reachability, HTTPS or VPN access is managed by the server owner.

Sign in with your Jellyfin username and password, or approve Quick Connect from an already signed-in device when enabled. Vupl retains the server-issued access token in protected credential storage.

Questions
Why use Vupl with my existing media server?
Vupl gives your personal movie and series libraries a focused viewing interface, with cinematic browsing, native navigation and detailed playback controls. Your server continues to organize and supply the media. Plex and Jellyfin can be used together in the latest supported updates; check the platform release status for availability.
Does Vupl include Live TV, DVR, music or Plex’s streaming catalog?
No. The current apps focus on personal movie and series libraries, including libraries shared with your Plex account. They do not include channel guides, DVR controls, music or photo libraries, or destinations for Plex’s free streaming catalog and rentals.
Does Vupl bypass Plex subscriptions or access permissions?
No. Vupl does not grant library access or include a Plex subscription. Each viewer must use an authorized Plex account, and the applicable Plex service, server and playback requirements still apply. Vupl is free; the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV and Apple Vision Pro apps are available on the App Store, and the Windows and Xbox apps are available on the Microsoft Store. The LG TV app is in review for the LG Content Store, and the Android app is in beta testing on Google Play.
Are all of these updates available now?
Availability differs by platform. Apple 1.1 is in App Review. The Windows Microsoft Store edition and the enrolled Android closed beta have the new library features. The next Xbox update is being validated before submission. A build in review or testing is not yet a public store release. The download page lists the current status.
Can I use Plex and Jellyfin in the same app?
Yes, in the latest supported release for your platform. Connect both and browse together, or filter to one source. You choose which server’s copy to play; access, downloads and viewing progress remain tied to that server. Jellyfin does not use your Plex account. See the platform release status before downloading.
What is Vupl, and what do I need to use it?
Vupl is an independent player for movie and series libraries you own or can access. Plex uses your Plex account; Jellyfin uses an account on your chosen Jellyfin server. You need a reachable server to browse and stream, or supported downloads for offline viewing. The Windows Microsoft Store edition and Android closed beta have the new Jellyfin and combined-library features. Apple 1.1 is in review; the next Xbox update is in testing. Media is not included, and your server’s permissions and service requirements still apply.
Does Vupl include movies or TV shows?
No. Vupl plays media from libraries you own or have permission to access. This website shows genuine native app screens, with sample media or participants where labeled. Those examples are not a streaming catalog.
How much can I change subtitles?
Supported text captions have controls for size, font, color, opacity, background, edges and timing. Position offers Bottom, Middle and Top, plus a separate Height adjustment from 5% to 95%. You can add a second text track with independent timing. Authored ASS styling is preserved unless you override it; bitmap tracks keep their artwork. Supported captions render on-device without video burn-in. File import is available on phones, tablets and Mac, and voice auto-sync requires an eligible external SRT track and Plex voice analysis.
Where do my progress and lists stay?
Viewing progress goes to the server and account supplying the selected copy. Connecting both Plex and Jellyfin does not merge their watch histories. Supported Plex primary track choices and personal ratings stay in Plex; a secondary subtitle choice stays separate. Plex cloud Lists remain a Plex account feature, with managed, guest and shared-list boundaries preserved.
Can Apple and Android viewers watch together?
Watch Together uses Plex rooms for a shared movie or episode. The latest updates keep the room when the host continues to the next episode, with shared readiness and countdown. Everyone needs access to the same Plex server and a compatible current client. Jellyfin and cross-provider rooms are not supported. See the release status for your platform.
Does it support 4K, HDR10+ and surround sound?
Compatible 4K playback, device-aware playback selection and audio-output controls are implemented. Direct Play uses the original file, Direct Stream repackages compatible streams, and Plex can convert when needed. Actual HDR and surround delivery depend on the file, device, display, receiver and playback path. HDR10+ output has not been verified across platforms, so it is not promised as a universal capability.
Where can I download Vupl, and what does it cost?
Vupl is free. Vupl for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV and Apple Vision Pro is available now on the App Store. Vupl for Windows and Xbox is available on the Microsoft Store. The LG TV app is in review for the LG Content Store. Samsung Tizen, Roku TV and Fire TV are coming soon; no release dates are announced. The Android app for phones and tablets is in beta testing on Google Play; testers can sign up at vupl.stream/android-beta. Android TV is in Google Play testing.
Is Vupl made by Plex?
No. Vupl is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Plex, Inc. It connects to Plex services and your accessible media libraries. Plex and Plex Media Server are trademarks of Plex.
Can Vupl request movies that are missing from my server?
Vupl plays titles already available from your connected servers. It does not currently add missing media or configure Seerr, Radarr or Sonarr. Server owners continue to manage their media separately.
